Question
Answer
The Carbon War Room is a global, independent non-profit. Our mission is to harness the power of entrepreneurs to unlock market-driven solutions to climate change. The Carbon War Room is a US registered 501(c)3 organization.
Question
Answer
Climate change is too important and too complex for governments to solve alone – business must lead and attract private capital towards solutions. We need a level playing field: there are $550b annual subsidies to fossil fuels. There is coincidentally $550b extra needed in green investment. A $550b shift is not a lot for private capital – it’s a shift of less than 1 percent. That’s why we started the Carbon War Room - to unlock the greatest wealth creation opportunity of our generation.
50% of all emissions can be profitably offset with today’s technology. Policy is necessary but not sufficient. A complementary and different skill-set to traditional efforts is needed – focused on making markets work better and unleashing capital. We need to invest in the tools to move capital. We need to focus on each sector, not a one size fits all.
Question
Answer
Carbon War Room is ultimately working towards the removal of 17 gigatons of anthropogenic carbon.
The Carbon War Room acts on a simple truth: that real progress is rarely driven by policy makers, but is instead led by visionaries who find opportunities that others have missed. Our work brings together entrepreneurs, technology experts, financiers, and action-oriented government leaders to find ways to make an immediate difference at sufficient scale to avert catastrophe.
Question
Answer
The Carbon War Room seeks funding from three main sources: individuals, corporations and foundations. These funding sources provide the capital for organizational overhead, new potential operations and active operations. The founders of the Carbon War Room fund all core operational overhead. 100 percent of every dollar from other funding sources goes towards the bottom line our Operations, Network Engagement and Research programs.

Question
Answer
It’s probably best told in the words of our Founder – Sir Richard: “I see the challenge of tackling climate change as bigger than both World War’s put together. Carbon is the enemy against which we need to declare war. To fight that war, there is a need to bring together the best business minds in the world to form an organization that provides the means and know-how to defeat climate change.”

Question
Answer
Yes – however, we do have a very strict filter in which we look at technology. First, we only look at proven technology that has been on the market and tested. There are a large number of organizations that focus on new and emerging technology solutions – we are not one of them. Please contact us if appropriate. Please remember we do not provide or directly facilitate funding for any business plan or existing business.
